Full Review

Setup 5 stars -- Outstanding

The MacLaren Volo is one of the easiest to setup, taking just 8 minutes and requiring no tools.

Securing children, and Safety 2.5 stars -- Good

Placing a child in the seat is very easy, though adjusting the harness is more difficult. While buckling the child is easy, unbuckling is difficult requiring excessive force to release the clasps.

Transport 5 stars -- Outstanding

At just over 8 lbs, Volo is one of the lightest and easiest strollers to carry and load.

Folding 3 stars -- Good

The latch for unlocking is black and hard to locate. Once found, unfolding is fairly easy. Folding however requires acting on two levers in sequence. An audible click confirms when the folding is complete.

Child-friendly features 2 stars -- Flawed

  • Footrest
  • Good seating room
  • Canopy adjusts for moderately low sun, but does not have a see-through window

Performance and features 3 stars -- Good

  • Very light weight
  • Padded handles
  • storage basket

The handles at 38″ high, are not adjustable. But due mostly to its light weight, it is one of the easiest strollers to push and steer. It has very good maneuverability in town and in emergency turns. The ride is comfortable only over smooth level surfaces. It is stable and easily taken over curbs, but sidewalk “lips” cause it to stop or lurch forward. Its smaller wheels also make it difficult to steer or push on heavy grass, pebbles, or beaches.
The parking brakes are set at each rear wheel by moving the levers left and right to lock and unlock. This action is somewhat awkward because one doesn’t know if unlock is to the right or left.

Design 4 stars -- Great

The MacLaren Volo a bare-bones design with a nice aesthetics. But like other light-weight strollers, it tends to sway when turning.
